Area:
Brighton to Silver Fork
Location:
Milicent to Twin Lakes to East Bowl to Doug’s Drop out Silver Fork.
Elevations, Slope angles and aspects:
8800’ to 10500’, angles to 45°, all aspects.
Avalanche activity:
Surface sluffing on slopes over 40°, running only a few feet.
Slopes skied:
Northeast facing offa Twin Lakes, west facing Michigan City, north facing east for of Silver and northeast facing Doug’s Drop(meadow chutes).
Weather:
Clear skies and cold temperatures. Winds from the northwest early in the day, blowing to around 15 mph. Those decreased and late afternoon was calm.
Snow pit:
Evaluation:
Snow is stable. No evidence of instabilities even shallow drifts from the morning wind. Surface sluffing remains but, cold temperatures are slowing both the sluffs and the recrystalization of upper snow layers.
